Edward “Ted” Eberspacher concentrates his practice on the defense of complex litigation matters and consumer class actions in a broad range of industries. He has advised extensively on Telephone Consumer Protection Act disputes, as well as matters involving unfair business practices and consumer fraud laws, in courts throughout the United States. Ted’s practice also involves complex business and insurance disputes, including claims against directors and officers for breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, intentional interference and civil conspiracy. He also regularly represents professionals in state and federal malpractice litigation with particular emphasis on the defense of attorneys and insurance producers. His professional liability practice also includes the representation of attorneys, judges and other licensed professionals concerning complicated ethics inquires and licensing issues before the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, the Judicial Inquiry Board and the Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. Ted also represents condominium associations in litigated matters and serves as outside General Counsel to several of those associations’ boards of directors.
Ted has been selected to “Super Lawyers Rising Stars” (2013-2020) and “Super Lawyers” (2021-2024) twelve years in a row in the fields of consumer class action/mass tort and professional liability defense. He has also been recognized by his peers as an “Emerging Lawyer” (2018-2020) and “Leading Lawyer” (2021-2024), a distinction reserved for less than 5% of all attorneys licensed in the State of Illinois.
More About Ted
Ted earned his B.A. in Finance from the University of Illinois with honors. He received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, magna cum laude, where he was a Harno Scholarship recipient, a Rickert Scholar for Oral Advocacy and member of Illinois’ Moot Court Board of Editors. He was regional champion and placed third nationally in the HNBA Moot Court Competition.
Ted is a published author and frequent lecturer on professional liability, ethics and class action topics. He is also an active member of the Chicago Program Advisory Board for the University of Illinois College of Law and mentors third year law students participating in the program. He is a member of the American Bar Association where he serves on its Advisory Panel and is also a member of the Illinois State, Chicago and DuPage County Bar Associations. Ted is also a member of the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance.
