Closely-Held Corporation & Family Disputes

It’s a story as old as time itself.  The family patriarch and matriarch rise from humble beginnings, start a small business, build it into a big business and amass a fortune, large or small.  But what happens when mom and dad have passed, leaving the business and other family assets to their children?  Often enough, war is what happens.  Claims of shareholder oppression.  Will contests.  Trust disputes alleging mismanagement of assets, self-dealing and disparate treatment.  The specter of fiduciary breaches looms large and all around.
